ILCA 4 MkII Sail

The ILCA 4 MkII sail has been commercially available since April 2026 however, the sail is not class legal until 1st August 2026. Therefore, the 2026 ILCA 4 Youth World Championships in Aarhus, Denmark (1 to 9 August) is the first event where the ILCA 4 MkII sail can be used for racing.

It is important to know that the existing ILCA 4 MkI sails remain fully class legal.

The MkII sail is not a replacement for the MkI sail, neither there is any requirement to upgrade the sail – at the 2026 ILCA 4 Worlds both sails (MkI and MkII) are class legal, and sailors may choose either sail they prefer to race.
